Ratio of Leaders to Young People

To ensure the best experience for young people at Charnwood we need to get the right balance of leaders supporting units.
If there are too few leaders we risk not being able to provide appropriate support or response to special situations. If there are too many leaders then there are lots of other tasks that need doing to stop you from getting bored!

Units should aim for a ratio of about ‘1 to 8 plus one’.

On the non-stop noughties a lot of units will be camping without leaders – so the ratios do not apply. The sub camp team will be looking for every adult on the sub camp to help ensure the young people have the best possible experience.

Sub Camp leaders will be contacting units which have large ratios of adults booked in and asking that some register for the flexi-staff team click here. Staff can still camp and help out with their units at busy times (like meal times) so you will be with your young people when they need most help but have the fun of delivering some great activities as well.
