Inclusion

We want the camp to be a fantastic experience for everyone who attends including those with health, inclusion or additional needs. The inclusion team are here to provide guidance and to support leaders with the facilitation of this. We are working closely with parents, participants, leaders, activity teams and Charnwood staff to make the camp as inclusive as possible.

Inclusion is important at Charnwood. Leaders are your first port of call as a parent, guardian or participant. All participants remain the responsibility of their leader on camp.

But if you are a leader, parent, guardian or participant who needs additional support please do not hesitate to contact us on inclusion@charnwood.org.

Suzanne

I have been a scout since I was 13, and now I’m a district cub leader and help out whenever I can.

As my day job, I work with children as an Occupational Therapist – helping children with additional needs to get the most out of life. Before that, I was a support worker for children with additional needs, and had the chance to do lots of fun stuff.

I have enjoyed two Charnwood camps previously – In 2011 as an explorer and in 2016 as a staff member on the Baden Powell Challenge Zone, and enjoyed a week of bread dough, and Kelly kettles.

I’m really looking forward to Charnwood 2019 and the new challenges it will bring. Please do feel free to get in touch – we are both friendly people

Hi, I’m Kat! I have been a Rainbow, Brownie, Guide, Ranger and I’m now a Brownie leader. I have been to Charnwood as both a young person and a staff member, and I was a Youth Representative on the Jamboree Management Team in 2011.

I currently work for a youth counselling service and have previously worked as a senior manager on the National Citizen Service advising staff on the health and inclusion needs of young people. This has included behaviour management strategies and support for participants with mental health needs such as eating disorders or self-harm, and for those who identify on the LGBTQ+ spectrum.

I am really looking forward to meeting you all next summer, and to hear all of your ideas on what we can do to make this the most inclusive and amazing Charnwood ever!

Hi my name is Elmer and I am the mascot for the Charnwood 2019 inclusion team. You will get to know my face lots more as I will be with the inclusion team whilst they plan for Charnwood, and of course on camp itself! My favourite activity is photobombing, so watch out!!!
